York Attractions

Situated in North Yorkshire in England, York is a beautiful city and is a major tourist destination. Located in the Northwestern part of Europe, England is a major center for international tourism and tourist attractions are scatted all over the country. York is situated at the confluence of Ouse and Foss rivers and as a result offer great scenic beauty to the tourists. York is the traditional county town of Yorkshire and is an economically developed city. The economy of York is largely dependent on tourism.   • York Minster: Built in typical Gothic style of architecture, the York Minster is the biggest medieval building in entire England and also the largest cathedral in the North of the Alps. This great specimen of architectural brilliance is standing tall in the city for eight centuries. Entrance inside York Minster is free for all. York Minster includes the Central Tower, from where you would get an excellent view of the entire city. Under the Minster is the Foundation Museum, which shows that the present building has been constructed on the site of a Norman cathedral, which was again built on a Roman fort.


  • National Railway Museum: The largest and most comprehensive railway museum is situated in the city of York. The National railway Museum in York provides a great opportunity to people to know about the history of rail transportation in entire Europe. The major exhibits at national railway Museum include Royal Carriages, Stephenson's Rocket and Mallard, the first steam engine in the world. The museum also houses several special exhibitions, posters, paintings and artifacts and lively audio-visual presentations.
